SOCHI to host Design Jam sponsored by Intel, Steelcase

April 16, 2010

Join SOCHI, Intel, and Steelcase on Tuesday, April 20 for a semester finale design jam! The event will be held downtown, at the Workantile Exchange from 7-9 p.m. Designers from our sponsors, Intel and Steelcase, will be on hand to critique and judge student designs that best address our challenge:

The Challenge (a sneak peek)

Currently, people maybe deal with ~3 “smart” devices throughout their day (laptop, smartphone, netbook) – but what happens when this number becomes many many more? How will this explosion of growth impact users and their relationship with the technology?

We will be giving away some great prizes (anyone need a new netbook?) and will have ample food and refreshments.

Details:
Tuesday, April 20, 7-9 p.m.
Workantile Exchange
118 S Main, Ann Arbor

Please RSVP on Facebook so that we can plan accordingly. See you there!

Cease-fire declared, ASB wins Penny War

February 14, 2009

The jousting for positions in the Penny War has come to a peaceful end, and the Alternative Spring Break program at the School of Information has been declared the winner.

Thanks to contributions from students, faculty, and staff, the ASB program received $1764.74 during the five-day battle. You can take a look at the results in graphic detail.

“We raised a lot of money for SI Alternative Spring Break 2009, and on behalf of the fundraising committee and all students involved in ASB this year, I would like to thank everyone who donated!” said master’s student Lori Donovan, reporting from the front lines.

Even though the war is over, contributions to the ASB program can still be made. Checks, payable to the “University of Michigan,” can be sent to the Office of Development and External Relations, 304 West Hall, 1085 S. University Ave., Ann Arbor, 48109-1107. Please indicate that your gift is in support of the ASB program.
